Mom is back in the hospital [Jan. 7th, 2017|01:43 pm]

Yesterday I took my mom to see her Dr & have him check her urinalysis (2 hour wait.) & She still had an infection ,She started taking bactrim antibiotic & this morning Christina said mom had fallen & the ambulance was there. Antibiotics always make her out of it.I had just taken the dogs for a walk - glad I did instead of going back to bed after feeding them @5 amChristina picked me up & stayed with me for 6 hours & just left. Mom's care has been better this visit. They gave her morphine & she's sleeping . Mom fractured her hip & they will do a partial hip replacement tomorrow.

I'm sorry to hear your Mom is having such a hard time, first with the recurrent UTIs and now the fractured hip. That is difficult at the best of times.

I empathize with you and her on so many levels. With her because I have been having the UTI blues too, 3 doozies since september. Just saw the doc yesterday. it sucks getting old. >.<

Dad decided last spring to go into an assisted living because he needed more care than I could give and was falling all of the time, allowing me and my brother to close our parents house and I finally moved closer to my daughter. Unfortunately, my son and his family had moved by then. (my secret name is Joe Bftsplk, the guy from the old Li'l Abner comic with the perpetual rain cloud and notorious bad luck, lol) In November, he tore his sartorious muscle trying to get out of bed, which left him in a wheel chair for 6 weeks with PT coming in to work with him.

Worrying about our parents as they age and ill health or accidents happen takes a real toll on the kids too, even if they are not the direct caregivers. I could not do it for him like I did for Mom. And I hate it that it has come to this, but Laney has to help me out all of the time now. I rarely even go to a doctor unless she goes. ah well.

How are you doing during all of this? I hope you are being able to maintain. Take care I'll be thinking about you guys. <3
