I was looking for the tickle me kitty clip that demonesque
shared - I found a classic Bonnie Hunt version:
My laughter turned to heartache when I learned that
The Bonnie Hunt show is slated for cancellation **sobs**
Onward to a happy surprise -
Tetsuya is listed as #3 out of a 100 in a Best Bassist poll - While Tetsuya is always tops in my mind, I'm surprised to see him on the list.. only for the fact that I didn't think he was all that well known in mainstream Western rock circles...
My question to you, dear readers - What song(s) best highlights Tetsuya's mad skillz?
Yay for Tetsuya being #3
(voted for him right away, of course!)
Best song.. that's a tough one. I can only mention two of my favorites: "Heaven's Drive" for its sheer speed during lives and how fast he's changing chords. All while still spinning around and dancing and running and jumping (one of the main things that amaze me about him + being able to sing some of the most amazing backing vocals).
And then there is "Blurry Eyes". I know from a friend of mine who's a bassist that this is actually a tough one. However, Tetsuya makes it sound so easy and light~ "Blurry Eyes" is perfection to me - you will never forget this bass line. Especially in connection with Hyde's voice, the way he sings and pronounces the song. Tetsuya has managed to making his often pop-sound with very tough bass-lines sound light and beautiful - and I think it's one of the key points why you can easily fall in love with L'Arc songs, yet you'll never get tired of them. Songs that are naturally appalling, but at the same time with some true musical genius and musicianship behind.
(I hope I made some sense)
Woot go leader-sama <3
Some great examples I think. I agree with Muirin on those songs.
But I also say songs like Inner Core, Taste of Love, New World, Ready Steady Go (trust me, listen to it tetsu-less and there is like no song)... I could go on like this for a while. xD
omg cutest kitten on the whole internet. officially.
Well our banana deserves top props:3
I'm as surprised as you though. AWESOMENESS.
...i can't really complain tetsuya was beat out by metallica & the chili peppers' bassists ...pretty awesome that he got 3rd!
yay .. tetsuya being no 3....(already vote for him)
best song ... mmm i'll say new world, heaven's drive and stay away
what!?!?! but she's got an awesome show!!! I had no idea... DX
At first I was like "Tetsuya? Who's that?" But the I realized, oh Tetsu from Laruku XD! lol I voted for him of course. As far as songs, I really love the bass line in "Blurry Eyes". Like the other person said, it's really perfection, although that bass line is not easy. I always liked "Stay Away" too because not only does it have a good bass line, but it also has a bass SOLO which still rocks my socks.
"Stay Away" immediately comes to mind. It always impresses me.
LOL the kitty clip! Too cute! XD
Hmmm, for Tetsuya, Taste of Love would be one of the most awesomest for me. Niji, Be Destined!<3, Fate, Finale... and so many other songs! I think most of the basis for L'arc's songs are a very distinct and powerful bass melody! XD
Hey Lady, can you send me your address, I'm pretty sure we missed you the first time 'round because I was looking for your address. I have a second wave to those I missed, due to go out on Mon. Pass it on, we have a holiday card for you.
p.s. I love bonnie hunt, she's awesome! I never got to see her show, but I bet it was good, she cracks me up.
